Teenage tennis sensation Mirra Andreeva had a terrible experience, receiving insults and mistreatment after losing a match against Amanda Anisimova at the Miami Open.
She had been on an outstanding 13-match winning streak. However, in the third round, Anisimova took the advantage, winning 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-3. After that, Andreeva started receiving strong hate messages and harsh insults.
An undeserved punishment for the Russian tennis player
Through an Instagram story, Mirra Andreeva shared a screenshot of the negative comments she received from some of her followers. The criticism toward the teenager was so harsh that she deleted the post a few hours later.
What’s most incredible is that she was coming off a series of victories. She even won the WTA 1000 title in Dubai, where she defeated Clara Tauson, and the Indian Wells Masters, where she overcame the world No. 1, Aryna Sabalenka.

In fact, on her way to winning those two consecutive titles, Andreeva eliminated defending champion Iga Swiatek in the Indian Wells semifinals. Because of this, she did not deserve such negative criticism.
It only took one defeat for people to start attacking her terribly on Instagram. The hateful messages she received led her to share them, as it is extremely unfair for her to go through something like this just for losing a match at the Miami Open.
Her goal was to become the fifth woman in tennis history to complete the Sunshine Double. Only legends like Steffi Graf, Kim Clijsters, Victoria Azarenka, and Swiatek had achieved this before. However, she couldn’t accomplish it, and that was enough for her followers to bombard her with insults and attacks.
