Fans of Dennis Rodman panicked after a shocking story surfaced on Facebook, claiming that the player—known as “The Worm”—had passed away. The news left many worried about Rodman’s well-being.

However, the truth is that Dennis Rodman is perfectly healthy. The sensational story shared on a Facebook page turned out to be a hoax. Instead of presenting real information, it left fans heartbroken.

“BREAKING NEWS: Dennis Rodman was found today in his apartment. Police reports indicate that the former Chicago Bulls star died due to a tragic auto-erotic asphyxiation accident. Rest in peace, Dennis. There’s another angel in heaven,” the post read.

Dennis Rodman is okay

Faced with alarming headlines, many fans questioned whether Dennis Rodman was alright. Thankfully, the answer is yes. The story was false, stemming from an April Fool’s joke. Though intended as harmless fun, not everyone appreciated it. Several fans noted that joking about someone’s death is in poor taste and urged people to avoid crossing the line with such pranks.

The joke certainly had an impact. The news of Rodman’s alleged passing spread widely, prompting countless fans to search “What happened to Dennis Rodman?” In the midst of their concern, they seemingly forgot it was April Fool’s Day.

A clear statement

To dispel any doubts, Dennis Rodman himself addressed the situation. After the false story went viral, the NBA legend confirmed he is alive and well.

“Yes, sir, alive and well. How about that?” Dennis Rodman wrote, posting a photo with two thumbs up while wearing a Chicago Bulls cap. So there’s no need to worry—Rodman is fine, albeit likely taken aback by the rumors of his supposed death.

Other stars

Dennis Rodman isn’t the first—nor will he be the last—to face alarming false headlines. Other NBA legends have also been targeted by hoaxes involving their supposed death or health issues.

Take Michael Jordan, for example, another icon of the Bulls’ golden era. In 2015, Jordan made headlines after rumors falsely claimed he had died of a heart attack. Like Dennis Rodman, the story caused shockwaves and triggered media frenzy. Not surprising, given we’re talking about the basketball GOAT.

The fake report painted a dramatic picture, asserting that Jordan had passed away while sleeping at his North Carolina residence at age 52. It was crafted with false details, including claims about his wife’s actions and paramedics’ arrival. In Jordan’s case, the story took fabrication to another level compared to Denni Rodman’s.

Beware of fake news

To make the hoax appear even more believable, its creators produced a video mimicking a breaking news report. Shared on YouTube, it added credibility to the narrative. However, the information wasn’t sourced from any reliable news outlets.

Despite having convincing elements, the story was entirely false. Jordan was alive and well at home, underscoring the importance of verifying online information. With Dennis Rodman’s case now added to the list, the need for caution becomes even clearer.
