Carlos Alcaraz shines at Indian Wells
Carlos Alcaraz‘s reflexes took center stage during the game. The four-time Grand Slam champion lit up the Indian Wells Tennis Garden with a backhand that secured a crucial point in the second game of the first set.
At that moment, Shapovalov was leading 1-0. It was 30-40 in the second set when the Spanish tennis prodigy left everyone speechless with his epic backhand. Carlos Alcaraz demonstrated his dazzling technical skills in a nerve-racking play, executing the winning shot at the net to clinch the set.
Victory in his path
With this new victory, Carlos Alcaraz now holds an 18-2 record at Indian Wells. He also extended his dominance at the tournament with 14 consecutive wins. Furthermore, the young star has his sights set on the championship of the first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season.

Although he is an experienced player, Carlos Alcaraz admits he still feels nerves during his debuts. However, as the tournament progresses, he finds his rhythm and handles the pressure almost magically.
“Nerves are a good thing, but today I didn’t feel them as much as in the first round. I was more relaxed, calmer, and able to think much better. I think all players feel nerves at the start of a match. It’s about how you control them. So I believe today and in the first round I did pretty well. I hope to keep it that way,” Carlos Alcaraz stated.
He’ll need to keep those nerves in check against his next opponent in the fourth round, Grigor Dimitrov. The Bulgarian, who is dealing with a left-hand issue, has proven to be a formidable rival and won’t make it easy for Carlos Alcaraz. The two have faced each other a couple of times, with Dimitrov taking the last two victories. We’ll see if Alcaraz can turn things around and change the stats.
