Cooper Flagg, the promising freshman star at Duke and favorite to be the first overall pick in the 2025 draft, is considering staying in college for another season. “Wow,” Flagg confessed to The Athletic in an interview this week. “I’m thinking about coming back next year.”
“I still see myself as a kid,” Flagg told the outlet.

“This is the only way I’ve known college. It’s my only perspective. I have no idea how the guys felt before, or if this feels different, more like being a pro. I mean, it’s the same with high school guys who get a lot of money. I don’t know. I feel pretty normal.”

Flagg also stated, “I’ve always dreamed of playing at the highest college level and competing for a national championship. That’s the kind of stuff I envisioned.”
Despite his impressive NIL earnings (valued at $4.3 million according to On3), it seems almost impossible that Flagg would bypass the draft. At 18 years old, 6 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 205 pounds.
Flagg has the combination of size and skills on both ends of the floor that NBA executives typically crave. He’s the frontrunner for the Wooden Award as the nation’s best college player.
