Shaquille O'Neal seems somewhat superstitious
Shaquille O’Neal believes that one of the NBA teams is under a curse ever since they traded one of their best stars. For the basketball legend, the franchise must now make a sacrifice to break this bad luck.
O’Neal seems to be a superstitious man and recently spoke about it on “The Big Podcast.” The former Los Angeles Lakers star has seen how this team has fallen so much in the NBA that they are now at the bottom of the play-in tournament.
It is the Dallas Mavericks, a team in a free fall that seems unstoppable. This all started right after Luka Doncic was traded to the Lakers. Jason Kidd’s squad has definitely not seen any light, having won only seven of their last 20 games.
Not only did Doncic’s departure affect the team, but his replacement, Anthony Davis, was only able to play one game. He has been out since early February due to a left adductor injury.
As if that weren’t enough Kyrie Irving also suffered an injury that has ruled him out for the entire season. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL, requiring rest and an extended period of rehabilitation.
This decaying situation the Mavericks are in has led many to think they are under a curse. In fact, they have been compared to the famous “Curse of the Bambino,” which kept the Boston Red Sox far from a World Series title for over 8 decades after Babe Ruth was traded from the team.
Regarding this, Shaquille O’Neal believes the Mavericks are cursed. On the podcast, Adam Lefkoe asked the legend if he thinks the Dallas team is facing the “Luka Curse,” to which he responded: “I was thinking about that, but now that you mention it, yes… Yes, I do.”
O’Neal believes that the Mavericks can end this curse, but only by making a “sacrifice.” In fact, he was very clear about it: “Nico has to go.” Therefore, for the basketball expert, the best thing for the NBA franchise would be to part ways with their general manager, Nico Harrison.
