ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith has come under heavy criticism for his remarks about LeBron James and his son Bronny, drawing the disapproval of CBS reporter Ashley Nicole Moss.

Known for his unfiltered opinions, Smith once again finds himself at the center of a storm. This time, his comments about Bronny James triggered backlash not only from fans but also from journalist Ashley Nicole Moss, who didn’t hesitate to call out the ESPN analyst.

The comment that started it all

It all began when Stephen A. Smith questioned Bronny’s place in the NBA, suggesting that his only merit was being LeBron James son.

“I beg LeBron James as a father: Stop this!” he exclaimed on First Take, implying that the pressure on Bronny was unfair and that his performance didn’t justify his spot in the league.

LeBron, however, didn’t stay silent. During the Lakers vs. Knicks game, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer had a heated exchange with Stephen A. Smith right in the middle of Crypto.com Arena. The moment quickly went viral, igniting a full-blown controversy.

Following the confrontation, Stephen A. Smith chose to explain his stance on Gil’s Arena Podcast, hosted by Gilbert Arenas. However, Ashley Nicole Moss wasted no time in calling out his actions, pointing out that the analyst avoided saying the same thing to LeBron’s face.

“I mean, he could have told him to his face, hahaha,” she tweeted with clear irony.

Moss criticism was sharp, emphasizing that Stephen A. Smith had the perfect chance to stand by his words when facing LeBron but instead waited until he was back behind a microphone to voice his opinion.

Some of Stephen A. Smith supporters defended his actions, arguing that since he was with his agent at the game, he didn’t want to create an awkward situation.

For Moss, however, that excuse doesn’t hold up. She insists that a professional of Stephen A. Smith stature should be able to stand by his opinions face-to-face.
