Aaron Rodgers: facing a big decision
It’s worth remembering that Aaron Rodgers became a free agent just last month after the Jets decided to part ways with him.

Despite struggling to shine in his last seasons with the Jets, Aaron Rodgers still has significant potential to contribute, and a couple of franchises are keen on signing him—even some he once considered rivals.
Exploring the options
The four-time MVP has been linked with multiple franchises, but the Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be the frontrunner. Another alternative was the New York Giants, though they chose to sign quarterback Russell Wilson instead, ruling Aaron Rodgers out of their plans.
Amid these options, NFL Network host Rich Eisen has shared his thoughts on Aaron Rodgers. According to Eisen, Rodgers’ future may not only involve the field. Retirement is another possibility, meaning he might sit out the 2025 NFL regular season.
Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, the host said: “I believe Aaron Rodgers’ number starts with a four—more than $40 million.”
A visit that raises questions
Another clue suggesting Aaron Rodgers might be considering the Steelers is his recent visit to the team’s facilities. Head coach Mike Tomlin spoke about the visit and Pittsburgh’s plans.
“It was reported that he spent a day with us, and it was a really good day,” said the coach. “Specifically, he and I—we’ve obviously known each other for some time now.”
Tomlin added that it was great to spend more personal time with Aaron Rodgers and get to know him on a deeper level.
“I genuinely wanted to take more time to understand him better, to learn what he values as a player and a person, and what he might be seeking in his next destination. But it’s free agency—it’s a process. I don’t have anything more significant to add beyond that.”
An open field
All this leaves the door wide open for Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers to make a crucial decision. It’s all happening under tight deadlines, as the team’s reorganization remains incomplete.
