Andy Reid sends a strong message to Chiefs skeptics about Travis Kelce retirement
At 35 years old and with a career that cements him as one of the greatest tight ends in history, many wondered if this was the end of the road for him.
However, Andy Reid left no room for speculation, making it clear that Kelce will remain with the team for the 2025 season.
Andy Reid emphasized Kelce importance to the team, stating that even if some believe he has lost a step, he remains an elite player.
“We’re talking about someone who could go down as the greatest of all time at his position,” Andy Reid stressed.
Despite his stellar career, Super Bowl 59 was not Kelce finest moment. With only four receptions for 39 yards, his performance fell short of expectations, something he acknowledged on his New Heights podcast.
“I don’t know what happened to me in that game, I wasn’t at my best,” he admitted. His brother and co-host, Jason Kelce, tried to reassure him, reminding him not to overanalyze the situation.
However, Travis sees that performance as fuel for his fire: “That’s how I create the beast, that’s how I flip the switch.”
For weeks, Kelce had been in discussions with his family, friends, and the team about his future. While retirement was on the table, he ultimately decided to push forward.
With this, the Chiefs not only retain a key offensive weapon but also keep their Super Bowl hopes alive, chasing a fourth ring for their star player.
