Could Shedeur Sanders face a bitter surprise in the upcoming NFL Draft
With the upcoming NFL Combine scheduled from February 27 to March 2 and free agency starting on March 12, teams will have the opportunity to clarify their plans.
If they opt for veterans like Sam Darnold, Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, or Justin Fields, Shedeur Sanders draft position could change drastically.
Although Sanders was initially projected to be the second quarterback selected, just behind Cam Ward, things are starting to shift. His father, Deion Sanders, has been adamant about finding the right fit for his son, initially ruling out teams with poor quarterback development histories.
However, a recent social media interaction with the Browns’ general manager, Andrew Berry, suggests that stance may be softening.
Throughout the pre-draft process, scouts regarded Sanders as the second-best quarterback prospect, right behind Ward. But new reports suggest that perception is starting to change.
Matt Miller from ESPN noted that several scouts are now considering Jaxson Dart from Ole Miss as a serious contender for the QB2 spot, which could push Sanders to third in the rankings.
“It seemed clear at first that Ward was QB1 and Sanders was QB2, but the growing buzz around Dart potentially emerging at the Combine is making waves,” Miller explained.
Scrutiny on Shedeur Sanders has intensified since Colorado’s season ended. Critics have pointed out his tendency to hold onto the ball too long and his inconsistency with deep passes.
