Sanders reflects on the past and looks ahead
Limited in his role, Sanders managed just 55 carries in 11 games last season. “I think I made the most of the cards I was dealt. There were a lot of things outside my control, but I’m fortunate to still be here and have another shot to shine—with the Dallas Cowboys,” he added.
That opportunity will come in Dallas Cowboys, though it’s an adjustment for Sanders, who spent the first years of his career with the Eagles.
“Strange, bu exciting”
“It’s going to feel a little strange… Dak [Prescott] reached out to me. We had a fun conversation—he congratulated me and welcomed me to the team… Honestly, I’m more excited, even if it feels a bit weird, but I’m pumped for this opportunity,” Sanders said about joining the Cowboys.

Prescott wasn’t the only one to connect with Miles Sanders. Head coach Schottenheimer was the first to reach out, leaving a lasting impression. “It felt like a very genuine conversation. We didn’t talk football; it was more about relationships and what I can bring to the team. We talked about the future, the team, and I loved his energy. He answered all my questions,” Sanders explained.
A run-centered strategy
While Miles Sanders hasn’t delved into the specific offensive strategies with Schottenheimer and Adams, the cowboys‘ coaches have made it clear that the offense will emphasize the running game. “The plan is to lean on the ground game,” Sanders stated. “There aren’t many places where the offensive coordinator also has experience coaching the offensive line. I know he’s playing a big role in shaping the plan, and I’m excited.”
Chemistry and collaboration
The Cowboys are gearing up for the 2025 season with Sanders and Williams leading the backfield. While they haven’t worked together before, Sanders is eager to team up. “I haven’t met him in person yet, but I’ve definitely seen his game—I’m a fan. I also followed him in college,” Miles Sanders shared.
Additionally, fans will see two Pennsylvania natives working together in Dallas Cowboys. Sanders praised his former Penn State teammate, Micah Parsons. “Micah is Micah—he’s a unique player. An exceptional athlete and an incredibly hard worker. He’s the type of person and player I have a lot of respect for.” It’s clear that Sanders is ready to showcase his abilities and contribute to the Cowboys’ success this season.
