Micah Parsons met with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys’ coaching staff to discuss contract terms. Things are moving in the right direction, according to the Cowboys’ owner, who stated that both sides agree on almost every aspect.

However, no deal has been signed yet, seemingly because Parsons’ agent has not received the offers. In fact, David Mulugheta was absent from the last three meetings between the team’s management and Parsons. Still, he is the one most interested in changing this situation.

An attractive contract for Parsons

One of the most appealing contract proposals for Parsons is a five-year extension worth $40 million per year. Without a doubt, Micah Parsons wants to finalize the deal as soon as possible, as this would make him the highest-paid linebacker in the NFL.

Many details still need to be ironed out before the Cowboys and Parsons can reach an agreement. However, the player wants to settle the matter now so he can focus on preparing for the upcoming season.

The issue is that Mulugheta has not been involved in the talks because Jerry Jones prefers to negotiate directly with the players. In fact, he feels more comfortable that way, to the point where he shows little interest in Parsons’ agent. Some consider this disrespectful, while others are already used to Jones’ methods.

Pressure to involve the agent

Rumors suggest that Parsons is pushing the Jones family to communicate directly with his agent. After all, this is the right way to finalize the contract. He might also be pressuring Mulugheta to respond when the Cowboys reach out to him.
