The NFL international vision is already taking shape, and furthermore, Pat McAfee has thrown his full support behind the idea.

American football is no longer just an exclusive U.S. phenomenon, and the NFL knows it. With a bold global expansion plan underway, the league is striving to establish its presence in new markets.
One of the first to voice his support is none other than former player and charismatic ESPN analyst Pat McAfee.
Recently, speculation has surged about a potential regular-season game in Abu Dhabi, an unprecedented move for the sport in the Middle East.
This initiative is part of the NFL Global Markets Program, which now includes Greece and the United Arab Emirates as key strategic territories for the league’s growth.
Known for his energetic and outspoken style, Pat McAfee made it clear on his show that this expansion is a step in the right direction.
“I love the idea. Sports have the power to unite the world, and the NFL is seizing that opportunity. If they manage to bring American football to new corners of the planet, it will benefit not just the league, but the sport as a whole,” he said.
In 2025, the league will host seven regular-season games outside the U.S., with matchups set for Brazil, Germany, Spain, Ireland, and the U.K.
The Chargers will play in São Paulo, the Colts in Berlin, and the Dolphins in Madrid. Meanwhile, the Steelers will take the field in Dublin, and London will host two games featuring the Browns, Jets, and Jaguars.
If Abu Dhabi ultimately joins the list of international venues, the NFL could set a crucial precedent for other major U.S. sports leagues.
