Patrick Mahomes says goodbye
It seems the 32-year-old player didn’t find the chemistry needed to become an unstoppable force with Mahomes. Still, the receiver holds no grudges against the quarterback, the Chiefs, or coach Reid.
“I’ve definitely been in situations in the last two years where I only got a couple of passes. So, it’s never really been a concern. I accept it. You’ve got to understand this is a business, and that’s just how it works,” Hopkins said upon joining the Ravens.

A new chapter begins
Hopkins’ contract with the Chiefs initially extended for a one-year term. However, all parties involved were aware that this partnership might be short-lived. According to their strategy at the time, Reid and the coaching staff sought to provide Patrick Mahomes with a player that fit his unique needs.
To secure DeAndre Hopkins, the Chiefs traded a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Tennessee Titans. In his time with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, Hopkins managed five starts, catching 41 passes from Mahomes. His stats include 437 receiving yards and four touchdowns. As this chapter comes to a close, Hopkins is excited about the new opportunities awaiting him with the Ravens. Likewise, there’s no hard feelings toward Patrick Mahomes. On the contrary, he’s ready to pursue his first NFL championship.
