Now that Travis Kelce will stay with the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2025 season, many fans and analysts wonder if his workload will decrease. Only head coach Andy Reid has the answer.

For Reid, it is essential that the entire team works together to improve their performance from 2024. He made this clear at the NFL Annual Meeting held at The Breakers Palm Beach.

A vote of confidence for kelce

According to Andy Reid, Travis Kelce was more willing to take breaks last year. In fact, he noted that the tight end “is willing, he’s learning when to step out… So he will take himself out of the game when needed, and I think that will continue as he gets older. I didn’t think that was a problem this year.”

Additionally, the coach is confident that if Kelce’s teammates stay healthy and fully functional, his workload will naturally decrease. This would be a huge advantage for the quarterback, who saw a slight drop in performance after the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I didn’t think that was an issue this year, but I felt that we were struggling with injuries in the wide receiver positions, and that doesn’t help a tight end at all… I believe that the healthier we are around him, the more productive he can still be,” Reid stated.

Betting on a stronger season

Travis Kelce wants to keep playing in the NFL because he believes he still has a lot to offer. He even said on his podcast, New Heights: “The most important thing is that I love playing football. I love the game. Still feel like I can play at a high level, maybe even higher than last year. I don’t think that was my best season.”

“I think I let my teammates down more times than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I’ve played in recent years. Really I want to finish strong. I have a bad taste in my mouth about how last season ended, how well I was playing, and how responsible I was for the people around me.”

This means Kelce is coming into the new season with full force, and it seems he has the support of his teammates and head coach Andy Reid to close out his career in the NFL on a high note.
