Caitlin Clark playfully trolled her Indiana Fever teammate, Lexie Hull, in public. The two players became close friends when Hull joined the franchise during her rookie season in the WNBA.
The trolling happened when Clark spent some time with NFL player Eli Manning. Manning began asking Clark, the WNBA Rookie of the Year, questions about her career in the professional women’s basketball league. One of her answers surprised her social media followers.
The unexpected response from Caitlin Clark during dinner
One of the questions Manning asked the Fever star was who would pay for the bill after a team dinner. Clark hesitated for a moment before answering: “I have a lot of new teammates… That’s a good question… More likely?… More likely? Probably Lexie… Lexie Hull!”
For Caitlin Clark, this was an easy answer, given that Hull has never attended a team dinner. So, she called her out as one of the cheapest teammates on the Fever. Clark made the comment naturally and without hesitation. But why would she act this way?
It seems that Clark was confident that calling Hull out publicly would not harm their friendship. The trust between the two players has grown so strong that they can troll each other without any consequences to their relationship.
A solid friendship and a lighthearted response
Lexie Hull was one of the first to welcome Caitlin Clark when she arrived in the WNBA. Over time, they’ve grown very close, even going on vacations together.
Their bond is so strong that Hull’s response was a joke: “Wow. No more free meals, snacks, drinks, nothing from my side from here on out.” To which Caitlin replied, “I expected nothing less!”
In fact, the chemistry and camaraderie between the two stars played a key role in leading the Indiana Fever to the playoffs for the first time in eight seasons.
